Great news for families — this July school holidays, kids travel free with Island Direct. Here’s how to make the most of it.

The Details

From Saturday 4 July to Sunday 19 July 2026, tamariki aged up to 15 travel completely free. All you need is one paid adult fare and the kids come along for nothing.

How to Book

Head to our website and book online — this offer isn’t available at the terminal, so get in ahead of time. At checkout, enter the promo code JULYHOLIDAYS26 and the kids’ fares will drop to zero. Easy as.

Got a Multipass?

No worries — just log into your Multipass portal and book your sailing as usual. When adding your child, select “infant” rather than child — that’s the option that triggers the free fare for this promo. (We know it says infant — just add them there and you’re all set.)

A Couple of Things to Know

• Kids need to travel with a paying adult on the same booking — so as long as you’re heading over together, you’re good to go
• Bookings are for travel within the promotional period only (4–19 July)
• Online bookings only — not available as a walk-up purchase at the terminal

Getting Here

Catch the Island Direct ferry from Downtown Auckland, Pier 13. The crossing takes around 40 minutes — a great start to the day with harbour views the whole way.
