Extended Maintenance Period Confirmed

Island Direct will remain out of service for the coming weeks while we carry out a full engine replacement on Te Waipiki. We’ve always known that a full engine replacement would be needed eventually, but unfortunately the time has come sooner than expected. While this isn’t when we’d hoped to carry out this work, it puts us in the best position to ensure reliability moving forward and we're aiming to resume service Friday 30 May.

Looking ahead, our top priority is to expand the fleet to two vessels to minimise the impact of any future disruptions. From there, we’re working towards a three-boat fleet to add more frequency and flexibility from our passengers.

If you’re a multi-pass holder, your pass validity will automatically be extended to account for the downtime. If you’re an Island Direct monthly pass holder, please click here to request a refund.

We’ll continue to post updates here as the work progresses and if there are any changes to the date we resume service. Thanks for your continued patience, we can’t wait to welcome you back on board soon.
